Running Tours of Santa Barbara
Running Tours of Santa Barbara was founded by women who love to run and love to travel. They are passionate about Santa Barbara's unique history and the environment.
MJ Bakove has run many marathons and half-marathons including Los Angeles, St. George, Big Sur, the San Diego Rock ‘N Roll and the Avenue of the Giants in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. She started out on the junior high track team as a hurdler and relay team member, and has been running ever since, competing in myriad 5K and 10K races as well as the longer distances. She and her husband share a home in Santa Barbara with their cat, Babe.
Jill Harper is a native of California and a 15-year resident of Santa Barbara. She has been a rollerblader for 20 years and a runner for 3. Jill saw that running can be an outlet for everyday stresses and a great way to see a city. So far, Jill has run 4 half-marathons and uses the runs as an excuse to see other parts of the country. Jill's response when asked about why she trains for her races, "I run to travel and travel to run." Jill is currently, as always, working on her next race/vacation! Being a traveler herself, she understands the average tourist's needs and desires "to get a taste of the local culture and history while enjoying the beauty within an alotted amount of time." Jill has discovered that running provides all three to both the leisure and rushed business traveler.
